Why Did We Stay? (continued - page 2)

Case in point, the involvement of the television show, Sightings. Each time they came back, they had approached us with the idea of bringing in a new professional or group that would surely be able to help us or fix the problem. Each time we agreed hoping for the fix all, so that we could move on with normalcy in our day to day life.
The television crew came in towing new professionals and after the initial uproar of activity, things would settle down again ( little did we realize it was due to exhaustion of the spirits involved) and we felt comfortable again; sending us to the other side of that teeter tauter.
Tony of course, had an addition feeling about leaving the house. As a proud man starting his family, he did not want to be run out of his own home. Men are supposed to stand their ground when their family is threatened; after all, that’s what the pioneers did. Then as things got more brutal and he felt that he was losing the battle, he dug his heal in even further.
Whether the force was tangible or not didn’t matter to him. Tony’s thoughts were that an unseen force was simply a cowardly and beatable force.
As time went on he realized things were getting worse and the danger factor for his family was increasing. Images in his head of the possibilities that could prevail grew increasingly frightening.
All the while there was another factor that kept us in the house. It stemmed from my curiosity of the nature of the events we were witnessing; I found them utterly fascinating. It should also be stated here, that I was unaware of much of the activity and visions Tony was having, and keeping from me so as not to upset me.
With each new activity I grew more curious. I came up with new ideas for communicating with the little spirit and they were implemented with excitement. I was absolutely captivated by a spirit’s ability to be physical. Additionally, I had never heard of a spirit able to inflict a scratch or set fires (or perhaps I simply didn’t realize the truth in it when I read about it).
In my desire to learn more from this little spirit, I neglected to acknowledge the woman spirit that had eventually made contact with Tony several times. In fact, for the longest time, I was unaware of the female entity and even when I was privy to his sightings of her, I blamed it on his lack of sleep.
