Sightings Online

Report by: Debra Pickman

As he held the wall for support, to catch his breath, one of the crew members took the baby from his arms another one of the crew lifted the back of his shirt. Two severe scratches were immediately visible. The scratches were deeper than anything he had yet received and perpendicular to each other. When asked what he felt at the time, he described the coldness, depictive of the event, and how it felt like a stabbing in his back.

Every crew member was highly concerned as well as amazed at the fierceness of the attack, but the pain Tony felt left, almost as fast as it had come. Several pictures were taken until Tony, the baby and I left for dinner. At that point additional cameras were set up for the impending interviews and upon our return about 90 minutes later, Tony was sitting for the interview.

With the cameras rolling and the lighting perfect, Kerry and Tony sat within a couple of feet of each other. The interview began with Kerry asking why Tony had decided to do this final interview unmasked.

Tony began to explain, that his original fear was ridicule from the community. In the beginning, this was the case but after a few aired segments of the Sightings show the majority of community response had been positive. As it turned out, the television staff did not do a very good job in hiding his identity; most everyone in town who had seen the show knew who he was. Since this was the case Tony felt there was no longer the need to be mask his appearance.

As Tony spoke these words on camera, Kerry was sitting not more than a couple of feet away and was witness to a light scratch as it appeared across the right side of Tony’s mouth. Kerry, who had been sitting on the right side of Tony, was notably and immediately frustrated that this had once again happened right in his full view.

The interview continued for a little longer, however there were no further incidences.

As the interview continued, another scratch, somewhat faint this time, appeared across his upper lip. The rest of the interview, was fairly short (likely due to crew’s concern of Tony remaining in the house and continually being attacked) and without incident.
