Report by Renae Leiker :

Since the last time we were at the Sallie house we had done another investigation.  This one was done at a store in downtown Atchison.  In the basement of this store is where we got our EVP.  There seems to be a family living in the basement.

After listening to the first tape for about 15 minutes I heard a very familiar voice.  It was Joanna.  She was telling them something but I couldn’t make it out.  I did hear them talking as she got ready to leave.

A couple minutes later I hear the basement ghosts saying things like we won’t go quietly.  I hear stuff being thrown and doors slam.  Next thing I hear is someone falling down the stairway.  Big commotion over this and then one woman saying they need a doctor and the other saying oh it will be fine.

Just about five minutes or so after I heard them saying good bye to Joanna and yes they used her name, I hear what sounds like someone else coming in to this picture.  He introduces himself as Frank.  He didn’t stay that long either but after I hear him leave I hear “Tim” telling his family that Frank explained the whole thing.  He called us a “rescue team” and the whole atmosphere seems to calm down.

Next thing I know I hear them asking who wants to play.  If you know what plastic poker chips sound like when they hit the table then you will know the sounds that I started picking up after that.  After Frank left, (Joanna was married to a man named Frank and also had a son by that name) they had settled down enough to play poker so I guess Frank explained the whole thing to them and calmed them after Joanna had showed up with some crazy story she told them.

Not sure why they were trying to call Joanna later but this part was also interesting.  The woman asked the man if he had called Joanna.  He said he would and then tells the woman that he did call.  She asks who he talked to and he says “Edith”.  She says “oh you just need to call back someone else will answer”.  Edith is a woman that brings pictures of “Aunt Bee” from the old Andy Griffith show.  She seems to be senile but she is always happy.  It sounded to me like they were pretty much validating what I thought about her.

The best part of all of this is that another group was at the Sallie house that night.  Michael was with this other group and we had been talking several months.  When we compared notes after the weekend investigation was over he said that he thought he had recorded a sound like that of an old phone while he was at the Sallie house.
