Report by Renae Leiker :

Once again I was talking with my husband as he left work June 3 2006 when I all of a sudden hear our pet’s upstairs coming through the phone.  I went upstairs and found the phone (hangs on the wall) on speaker phone.  If I can blame one of the animals in this house I do but I don’t see how any of them managed to turn on the speaker phone.  I pushed the button told them we would come to visit in one more day and went on about my business.

It was a stormy day in Kansas, one of those where you can feel the energy of Mother Nature winding up.  Jerry and I were excited because we had both read where lightning and the static electricity that comes with storms was good for ghosts.  It really looked bad off to the north west of us as we left Topeka and I didn’t think it would miss Atchison.
We got the equipment inside and my son and a friend decided to take off and see if they could see a tornado.  They even stopped at a gas station and the clerk said “what the hell are you two doing out in this”, um “looking for tornados”.  The guy laughed and said they were about ten minutes late.  It was just about as stormy as it can get.

With those two out chasing clouds Jerry and I just hoped the ghosts could tap into a little natural energy and give us a show.  I decided to go see Coleen a former tenant of the house, for a few minutes and give the ghosts a chance to have a little fun with Jerry.  What temptation that must have been, however the ghosts didn’t take us up on the offer, this time.  Apparently they were all out chasing clouds too.  Back in Topeka my husband was having a pretty bad time with the smoke detectors in the house.  We had replaced the one acting up just four months before when it had acted up after another visit to the house.  I tossed that out as ghost evidence because the detector was an older one and we couldn’t rule out old age as being the most likely problem.  With two different detectors going off and both new in the past three months, I have to wonder now if it isn’t related.

When I returned from Coleen’s Jerry told me that he had a surprise for me on the tape.  When I reviewed our recordings later I heard Jerry playing his guitar.  I must admit his voice and playing were not bad but the song, um left a little to be desired.  Something about being a hot dog and you were the mustard or something.  When the song is over I hear one of the male ghosts say “stupid”.  What can you say?  At least they have taste.

Jerry was upstairs changing out equipment while I stayed downstairs.  I thought as I sat there that I could hear a toy maybe making a sound.  Since the camera was running I said out loud to check evp for the last minute.  Sounds like a doll.  “If anyone is here and you just made that noise, please do it again”.  I didn’t hear it at the time but on the recording the noise came again right after I asked for it.   I know I saved the file but I probably won’t post it because it is very faint and just won’t handle being switched to a new format and the upload.  The only reason I bring it up is to set the stage for one very cute EVP we get on our next visit.
