This night we had an unexpected visitor stop by. She said that she lived a few houses away now but at one time lived in the Sallie house and the house just next to it. She said that while her daughter had an imaginary friend that she played with in this house named Sallie they had not noticed much other activity.
The woman named Colleen said at the time her daughter talked about Sallie she just thought it was someone her daughter tried to blame for her dolls being moved and other things she had been in trouble for. She said the family as a whole had not had much trouble in this house but the one right next to it had certainly been active. Not the red brick house but the one on the other side.
Jennifer had been doing some research and we knew that this house had been built by the Finney family also. (James, oldest son of MC and Kate Finney) Coleen said in the house next door they would hear all sorts of stomping up and down the stairs and doors slamming and just phantom noise they never knew what caused it.
She also talked about feeling uncomfortable at times, maybe even a little unnerved a few times. I got the idea from Coleen that she felt there had been much more paranormal activity in the house next door, even more than what she had experienced in the Sallie house. We never thought much about it until later, in September when we talked to Debra and Tony.
As far as evidence goes we did hear the phantom furniture, keys, coins or something along those lines. There was no furniture in the house at this time. I thought I had picked up the mumbling of an old man in the closet but I couldn’t understand what was said. Most were just noises and could have been an imprint of energy or voices from the past.
We did get one EVP that made us wonder a little bit. It was early am and after we had been there for several hours. We captured a voice saying, “There’re back”. Were they referring to us? Why would they just now be making such a comment if they were talking about us? Did someone else come in and they are telling them who we are?
If it was about us then this shows signs of intelligent haunt, aware of their surroundings and ours too. We did pick up a number of snarls, hisses, growls that could even be heard without the help of equipment. I suppose we had heard a few of these on our first visits and just never put it together for sure.
It was about this time that we started saying there was a crazy woman there. Now this seems kind of funny looking back but at the time we didn’t think there was any real crazy woman. It was just something we said to explain the growls and such that we had heard.
We had also noticed that the dates and times were not on the cameras even though we thought they had been set. It made it very hard to compare recordings. I noticed there was a difference in the video tapes I used and I started buying Sony tapes. Were hi8 cameras better than digital? Yes they were more clear but the digital didn’t seem to get as much as the hi 8 cameras. Could it have been where they were placed? I didn’t own digital camera’s Jerry did so I also wondered if we were listening differently.
We had been hearing a few growls, hisses that we referred to as the crazy woman and this visit allowed us to capture a few of those sounds. (Unfortunately none are good enough to include in evp gallery) Jennifer assured us that she hadn’t found anyone that lived in this house that had ever been found or suspected of being crazy.
Jerry, Jennifer and I all talked about the fact we had read where the people who had come to this house talked about how they felt they had been followed home. I remember saying that I had not seen anything unusual and had not seen anything that made me think I had been followed. So, was it from an over active imagination, by the investigators?
Recordings in my own home showed nothing. Jennifer and Jerry had not recorded and noticed nothing unusual.
While listening to tapes though, I thought I heard a little boy but it was always so faint that when I saved the file I couldn’t hear it. The only time I could hear it was listening to the original file. I asked Jerry to listen close for the little boy but he doesn’t listen the way I do and I suspect we each hear frequencies differently. Never the less I believe there is a little boy there. Next time I will be taking a few little boy toys with me.
